Kharkiv was first recorded in 1627 and the first ever written document of the city dates back to 1655. It is one of the main industrial, cultural and educational centre of the Ukraine. The second largest city of Kharkov is part of the province Kharkiv. The city is home to a very strong arms and machinery production industry. The freedom square is the second largest city square in Europe. The province?s other industries include grains, sugar beets, potatoes, vegetables, sunflowers, cattle and poultry farming.
