Odessa is the 5th largest city in the Ukraine and also the most important trade city in the country. Along the Black Sea it is the largest city of its kind. It was heavily influenced by French and Italian architecture and therefore looks a lot like a Mediterranean city. During the occupation by the Soviets, Odessa was a naval base and an important trade port. The city was first inhabited in the 15th century AD, by nomadic tribes of the Nogays. The main industries today are metalworking, food processing, oil refining and shipbuilding. Odessa is a Ukrainian naval base and home to a fishing fleet. The famous seventh kilometer market is the biggest market of any kind in Europe.
Since the whole property boom started to take off in Ukraine after the Orange Revolution in 2004, the country has experienced a massive growth in real estate. Despite the so called boom being done with, the market is still very strong and it is looking so for years to come.
