The name of Sevastopol is of Greek origin and means "city of glory, majestic, worthy of worship”. The city is situated on the Black Sea bordering in the Crimean Peninsula. Sevastopol has pretty much been rebuilt since it got bombed in 1941. The rebuilding process was a hard and laborious one and even though most buildings have been totally built from scratch, some have been lovingly restored from the ruins. The city has only enjoyed a steady flow of tourism since it was officially opened to the public in 1996. Previously it was heavy guarded since it was the base of the Navy and therefore hard to access.
Buying and investing real estate in Sevastopol is quite common for overseas investors since the area is a particular hotspot within the Ukraine. There is also a 30 km stretch of land inland that is particularly interesting to investors, since it contains good infrastructure for tourism. The prices to buy a run down condo or farm are still very cheap and with some renovations and a few years of renting the property out initial investments can probably be recovered again.
